Tamas was born in 1942 and has trained in martial arts since the start of the 1950's. Already in 1957, Tamas graduated to 1st dan black belt. Today he holds the grade of 10th dan black belt, which is the highest grade given to any non-japanese person in karate.

During his long "martial arts career," Tamas has not only been training in karate but also holds a black belt in Judo, Aikido and Jiu Jitsu. In the style of Shito-Ryu has been awarded the title of Hanshi.

Tamas' early experience in karate has meant that he has trained with, and has been influenced by, many great Japanese masters such as Tani, Nambu, Fujiwara, Hayashi and Kuniba. Tamas has at times in his life lived on Okinawa in order to develop himself in karate and martial arts.

Since 1965, Tamas worked as an instructor. Tamas holds Swedish Budo Association instructor license-C,-B,-A and Elite. During the 1970's, Tamas was part of the Swedish national team in karate.

Tamas has at times been responsible for close combat training in the army, and self-protection training for Norrmalm police in Stockholm. Internationally, Tamas has trained police and military in many countries around the world.

In 2008, Tamas was elected as the first European in the Masters Hall of Fame in the United States.
